I had a blast over the 4th of July weekend! I saw fireworks, a band, and a water-skiing show in Scotia on the 1st. On the actual 4th, I participated in a parade going around the block in my best friend's neighborhood. I went swimming on the 2nd and 3rd, and went underwater fully on the 3rd.
Personally, I really like this holiday. Mostly because of the fireworks, but I have other reasons to like it, too. One reason is that it's one of the only holidays where I think about the people who have fought, or are fighting, in wars. On the 4th, I usually think about the fact that if the declaration of independence had never been signed, the U.S. would still be part of England. I'm extremely happy that yesterday happened.
My favorite part of the weekend would have to be the fireworks. They may have been loud, but they were really beautiful. One of them was a smiley face! Another one made a cool little 3D looking ring. At one point, they put too many up at once, and it hurt my eyes.
